Ok. I've finished _Mission of Honor_ I don't see any notice of a sequel yet.
Has there been any talk of what comes next and when.

Whoa wait! My copy of Mission of Honor just came in the mail from
Amazon. I am opening as we speak. I still need to finish it before I
am ready for a sequel.

I think the next thing on the agenda is the next Safehold book. He
said, on an interview with Slice of Sci-Fi, that everything is on the
back burner except for the Honor series and the Safehold series. I am
looking forward more to the Safehold series than the Honor series, but I
am exited about carving out time to start reading Mission of Honor.

The next Weber book is _Out Of The Dark_ (a Tor book scheduled for Sept
28th).

Ah, he's jumping on the vampire craze. Sad. Although his one-offs are usually more
tightly written; this doesn't have the feel of a one-off.

More than that; he's combining it with the "Earth has been
attacked/conquered by an alien race" craze. E.g., Hubbard, Turtledove,
Flint & Wentworth, Ringo.

But he hasn't written a story about them attacking us.

While You are reading it, look forward for all the hints to antologies
(to be written) within the Honorverse. For my taste, the book has more
the character of an exposé or draft, than that of a self contained novel.

The proposed plotlines are very, very juicy.

The treecat line, for example, is very promising - the planet with all
these as well enraged as frightened 'cats will change - for ever.

David Weber has also plotted many series of meetings of very different,
interesting people.

He has pushed the plot line so far, that he can sit back and organise
collaboration books for a full decade of fun ;-)

I just finished it, and he ended it at a most interesting point;
unfortunately, we're going to have to wait forever for the next installment.

I wonder whether he's a professional wrestling fan; one of the minor
characters is named Vince McMahon.

I didn't read the online draft version, and wonder what changes were made
between that and the published one.

I have it from a usually reliable source that the first draft of
the manuscript ended a little earlier than that.

I'm glad that it didn't end earlier than where it wound up ending, because
it ended on a note that almost everyone (if not everyone) expected to
happen.

I went ahead and decided to re-read _AAC_ just to clear up my confusion. I
had read it once, but I certainly didn't recall a lot of the events referred
to in MOH. After I finish it, I'll repeat _MOH_ so that I can appreciate the
events that I didn't understand when I read it the first time.

Thanks for all the help.

Some of the events occur in the sideline books. If you don't read the
sidelines it won't break the main storyline, though--it's just you'll
have offscene events that aren't explained as well as you might
expect. Things like not knowing all of why Victor showing up at Haven
was such a bombshell. You can tell from the situation that the Mesan
manipulation has been discovered but not how.

The two series are pretty much independent of each other although I
would be inclined to read them in publication order as they do
reference events from other books.

Thanks.

I think I will wait until I feel like re-reading the entire series and then
do it properly next time without skipping anything.

That probably won't be for another year or so.
