Ok, I don't know where else to ask this question.

I like the Dahak series, and I am disappointed there will not be any new
ones in the near future; So does anyone else know a writer/series where
implants and self-aware ships play a prominent role?

Thanks,
Nathan.

The Bolo series by Keith Laumer and continued by Weber. Self aware
hyper powerful machines - the cyber implants came toward the end of
the series. No biomech implants

Can't think of any with /both/

self-aware ships

Just out (and there is a implant mentioned)
Ghost Ship Sharon Lee & Steve Miller (Baen hc) Aug '11
You will also want to read how Theo Waitley got into this so also
Fledgling Sharon Lee & Steve Miller (Baen pb) Mar '10
Saltation Sharon Lee & Steve Miller (Baen pb) Jul '11

Anne McCaffrey The Ship Who Sang and (with collabs) other Brain Ships
books

Implants a major part of the plot

Elizabeth Moon's Vatta's War series
Trading in Danger
Moving Target (Marque and Reprisal in US)
Engaging the Enemy
Command Decision
Victory Conditions

Lois McMaster Bujold's Memory

And to return to David Weber (with John Ringo) the Empire of Man
(Prince Roger) series

March Upcountry
March to the Sea
March to the Stars
We Few

self-aware ships
the Jon and Lobo series by Mark L. Van Name. And if I recall correctly,
Jon has an implant; he is definitely nanotech enhanced. Lobo is a
self-aware ship.

You got several good suggestions; I'd also recommend Weber's
_In Fury Born_. Not a series, but it meets the criteria.

David Weber's Safehold series comes to mind.

It's just earlier in time than the Dahak series.

Is Owl self-aware?
Doubt it. Why should it be different from any of the other inhabitants of
Safehold?

Is Owl self-aware?
Very close to it. Think of a Dahak that is only 1,000
years old. Barely aware and very little sophistication.
The interaction with Nimue is driving this.
