Not sure how much this will differ from the final printed version :

We can all read the ARC sample chapters anyway and some posters on
Baen's Bar Snerkers have already pointed out errors which the editing
should catch.

The final version coud add chapters or alter the order - the oopsie
story means we have examples where this was done.

But the oopsie was a lot earlier than an e-arc. Do they actually do
more than error correction between e-arc and final release?

If past history is any indiction, the e-arc just needs a final copy-edit
to fix the typos (and there are a quite a few of those.)

Agreed. IMO it's one of the more enjoyable recent books in the
series. A lot happens (some expected, some surprises), the infodump
content is fairly low, and the overall series plot moves forward
significantly.

Unfortunately, while the info-dump content is low, the people we don't
care about sitting around telling each other stuff they (and we) all
already know content is still pretty high.

I don't think we have any choice in this--the book has to be able to
stand on it's own reasonably well and not baffle someone who hasn't
read what comes before.

Yeah, but by the *third* time the two Solly analysts sit around telling
each other that the Mantie's missiles are a whole lot better than their
bosses believe, but their bosses *still* won't listen to them, it gets a
bit tiresome.
