Baen's Bar - Problems?

Is there something wrong with Baen's Bar right now? I registered a few
days ago, but I can't for the life of me get the damn thing to
display. The furthest I've got before it times out is loading the
basic skeleton of the forum page, but with no posts or topics visible.
I run Vista at home, but had no luck on my XP machine at work either.

What gives? Any advice?

Use a newsreader or email ?

http://bar.baen.com/Help/default.htm

news://bar.baen.com

If you like using a browser then Gmail and Baen's Bar work together
quite well.

Once registered you can subscribe by email without using the web
interface
http://www.bonham.net.nz/SF/Baen/Bar/bar_ng.html

The variance in reported response for the web interface is difficult to
account for but it may be latency (either local to you or the route
taken) rather than lack of bandwidth that is the problem. BarFlies have
reported problems at work but not at home and vice versa or even
problems at both but not at a public library terminal.

Thanks for the pointers. I have Outlook Express, so have tried to set
up newsreader access. I have entered the above as the server name, as
indicated in the Baen help file, but I get the error 'The server could
not be found'.

Hmmm.....

Hmmm.....
the server name is bar.baen.com of course and it is sometimes down so
try again 12 hours or a day later.

"In the properties for this server tell your NNTP client that this
server requires login {aka authentication} and give it your ID and
password {from registration}."

or click on the above and also try clicking on.
nntp://bar.baen.com if that doesn't work
