_A Beautiful Friendship_ (Star Kingdom) by David Weber

Book number one of a new series of two books
set in the Honorverse. I suspect that this
will not just be a mini-series of two books
but will go more. I do note that Mr. Weber
has a co-author on the sequel:

I believe that this is David Weber's first
young adult novel? In any case, I loved it.
This novel is an expansion of an old novella
by DW of the same name. And it can be
considered a prequel to the excellent Honor
Harrington series.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Amazon rating: 4.1 out of 5 stars (100 reviews)

There may be some expansion of the novella proper -- I've
not done a close comparison -- but it's basically an
*extension* of the novella. That is, the first part of the
book -- not quite a third, I think -- is the novella, in
which Stephanie and her treecat make the first such bond,
and the rest takes up from there.

It seems likely.

And probably several more, if publishers have their way...

New York Times and Publishers Weekly Best Selling Young Adult Series.

So that probably means it done good, so far. In the honorverse wiki,
it's listed as the "Star Kingdom" series. So far all of them are
about Stephanie Harrington and Climbs Quickly (or should one say
Lionheart and Death Fang's Bane?), but that could change, I suppose.

"So that's... good! Right?"
"Yyyyyes?"

Yup, I saw that about _Treecat Wars_ just after
I posted. Looks like David Weber id trying to
follow James Patterson's ways a little bit and
farm out the work. I will find out when I read
_Fire Season_.
